Abstract
Osteoporoza je metabolička bolest kosti karakterizirana gubitkom koštane mase i poremećenom mikroarhitekturom koštanog tkiva, što za posljedicu ima povećanu krhkost kostiju i povećan rizik za nastanak prijeloma. Osnovni mehanizam nastanka osteoporoze je gubitak ravnoteže između koštane razgradnje i stvaranja nove kosti. Nastanak osteoporoze povezan je s brojnim rizičnim čimbenicima, koji uključuju hormonalne poremećaje, loše prehrambene navike, odnosno smanjen unos tvari kao što su vitamin D, kalcij, vitamin K cink. Tjelesna aktivnost nedvojbeno popravlja koštanu gustoću u svakoj dobnoj skupini. Prevencija osteoporoze i nastanka osteoporotičnih prijeloma uključuje adekvatan unos kalcija i vitamina D, primjerenu tjelesnu aktivnost i izbjegavanje rizičnih čimbenika na koje se može utjecati.
Abstract (english)
Osteoporosis is a metabolic bone disease characterized by low bone mass and microarchitectural deterioration of bone tissue, with a consequent increase in bone fragility and susceptibility to fracture. The underlying mechanism in all cases of osteoporosis is an imbalance between bone resorption and bone formation. There are many risk factors for osteoporosis, including hormonal disorders and dietary habits (intake of vitamin D, calcium, vitamin K and zinc). Physical activity undeniably improves the bone density in all age groups. Preventive measures for osteoporosis and osteoporotic fractures include adequate calcium and vitamine D intake, adequate physical activity and reduction of the risk factors can be influenced.
