This paper explores the correlation between the emotional intelligence of leaders and productivity of community. It investigates the history of leadership, understandings of intelligence and the evolutionary need for both phenomena to emerge within a community, as well as the positive and negative ramifications thereof. In writing this paper, it became necessary to touch on philosophy, distant and recent history, as well as the evolution of the understanding of intelligence. The paper reveals that there is a suggestion of a positive influence of the leader's emotional intelligence on the community's productivity, but it is still inconclusive due to the relatively small number of scientific papers, the small number of participants in the average paper, as well as meta-analyses that find only a minimal positive correlation. The conclusion of the paper suggests that the emotional intelligence of leaders is indeed conducive to overall productivity, but it also implies that it needs to be cultivated in every member of the community. The paper also concludes that with the entry into the so-called Nuclear Age, humanity has lost the prerogative of isolated and partial social and scientific action, but rather every action necessarily concerns the rest of the human community; the paper recognizes the slow arrival, as well as the need for a new humanism in all spheres of human action, including the economy.
