Abstract
Proces predsjedničkih izbora Sjedinjenih Američkih Država razlikuje se od procesa predsjedničkih izbora u drugim, osobito europskim zemljama, zbog uvođenja elektorskog kolegija koji donosi odluku o izboru predsjednika SAD-a. Budući da je američki predsjednik jedan od najmoćnijih svjetskih državnika, podacima koji su prikupljeni iz sekundarnih izvora podataka: knjiga, znanstvenih članaka i radova te relevantne internetske literature, analiziran je te u radu objašnjen predsjednički sustav Sjedinjenih Američkih Država, proces predsjedničkih izbora te uloga i ustavne ovlasti predsjednika SAD-a. Za potrebe razumijevanja razvoja predsjedničke moći kroz američku povijest, spomenut će se prvi američki predsjednički izbori i oni posljednji. Naposljetku, usporedit će se predsjednički izbori Republike Hrvatske sa ranije opisanim američkim sustavom te će se definirati izvršna vlast RH i njezine ovlasti.
Abstract (english)
The process of the presidential elections of the United States of America differs from the process of presidential elections in other, especially European countries, due to the introduction of the electoral college that makes the decision on the election of the President of the USA. Because the American president is one of the world's most powerful statesmen, with data collected from secondary data sources: books, scientific articles and papers, and relevant internet literature, the presidential system of the United States of America, the process of presidential elections, and the role and constitutional powers of the president of the USA were analyzed and explained in the paper. For the purposes of understanding the development of presidential power throughout American history, the first American presidential elections and the last ones will be mentioned. Finally, the presidential elections of the Republic of Croatia will be compared with the American system described earlier, and the executive power of the Republic of Croatia and its powers will be defined.
