Abstract
Osteoporoza je kronična progresivna bolest koštanog sustava koju karakterizira smanjena mineralna gustoća i povećana lomljivost kosti. Osteoporoza je kvalificirana kao primarna koja uključuje postmenopauzalnu i senilnu osteoporozu, te sekundarna osteoporoza. Negativan ishod i komplikacija osteoporoze jesu osteoporotični prijelomi, koji mogu značajno utjecati na funkcionalnu sposobnost i kvalitetu života, a nerijetko završavaju i sa smrću. Osteoporoza i osteoporotični prijelomi češće se javljaju kod žena. Na nastanak osteoporoze utječu čimbenici na koje ne možemo utjecati i oni na koje možemo utjecati. Liječenje osteoporoze podrazumijeva farmakološku i nefarmakološku terapiju. Fizikalna terapija spada u nefarmakološko liječenje osteoporoze. Najvažnije mjesto u prevenciji i liječenju osteoporoze ima tjelesna aktivnost, koja u mladosti omogućuje postizanje visoke mineralne gustoće kosti i time smanjenje rizika od nastanka osteoporoze. Kod osoba sa osteoporozom tjelesna aktivnost smanjuje gubitak koštane mase i poboljšava opće zdravstveno stanje i kvalitetu života. U ovom istraživanju je procijenjena prisutnost određenih čimbenika rizika za nastanak osteoporoze, prisutnost prijeloma, kvaliteta života te u kojoj mjeri se ispitanici bave tjelesnom aktivnošću.
Abstract (english)
Osteoporosis is a chronic progressive bone disease characterized by reduced mineral density and increased bone fragility. Osteoporosis is classified as primary which includes postmenopausal and senile osteoporosis and secondary osteoporosis. Negative outcome and complications of osteoporosis are osteoporotic fractures, which can significantly affect the functional ability and quality of life, and often end with death. Osteoporosis and osteoporotic fractures occur more frequently in women. Osteoporosis is caused by fixed and modifiable risk factors. Treatment of osteoporosis involves pharmacological and nonpharmacological therapy. Physical therapy is part of nonpharmacological treatment of osteoporosis. The most important in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis is the physical activity, which in youth allows achieving high bone mineral density and thereby reduces the risk of osteoporosis. In people with osteoporosis, physical activity decreases loss of bone mass and improves overall health and quality of life. This study evaluated the presence of certain risk factors of osteoporosis, presence of the fractures, quality of life and in what extent participants are engaged in phisical activity.
