Abstract
Kralježnica u čovjeka ima mnoge važne zadaće. Ona je prije svega središnji organ pokretanja (mobilnosti) i stabilnosti, te omogućuje pokrete glave, vrata i trupa, a istodobno održava ravnotežu i omogućuje uspravan stav. Umjerena sportska aktivnost se smatra pozitivnom za kralježnicu. Međutim, mnoga istraživanja su pokazala da je i previše i premalo aktivnosti štetno za zdravlje kralježnice. Ozljede kralježnice obuhvaćaju približno 9-15% svih ozljeda u sportaša. Ozljede kralježnice variraju od jednostavnih ozljeda tipa istegnuća struktura mekog tkiva, pa do prijeloma kralježaka s posljedičnom kompletnom lezijom kralježnične moždine. Cilj rada je prikazati najčešeće ozljede kralježnice u sportu, utvrditi mehanizam nastanka i učestalost u određenim sportovima, te podići svijest o važnosti strategija prevencije ozljeda.
Abstract (english)
Human spine has many important functions. First of all it is a central organ of motion (mobility) and stability, wich enables movement of the head, neck and trunk. Moderate sport activity is considered to have a positive impact on spine health. However, many studies have shown that both too litlle and too much activity is harmful for spine health. Approximately, 9-15% spine injuries are sport-related. Spine injuries can vary from soft tissue strains to fractures of the vertebra with consequent spinal cord lesion. The aim of this paper is to present the most frequent injuries of the spine in sports, to determine the mechanism and prevalence of the injury in specific sports and to rise awerness of importance of strategies for injury prevention.
