Abstract
Hospitalne infekcije nastaju kod bolesnika, osoblja i posjetioca u bolnici ili nekoj drugoj ustanovi. Produljuju liječenje i boravak bolesnika u bolnici zbog čega su povećani troškovi liječenja te povećavaju mortalitet i morbiditet. Cilj sprječavanja hospitalnih infekcija je sprječavanje unošenja izvora zaraze u zdravstvene ustanove koji izazivaju bolest. Unošenje izvora zaraze sprječava se organiziranjem protokola za sprječavanje hospitalnih infekcija, pravilnom organizacijskom strukturom rada, pravilnim provođenjem mjera dezinfekcije i sterilizacije te pravilnom higijenom ruku. Najvažniji način prijenosa infekcija u zdravstvenim ustanovama je prijenos rukama. S toga je održavanje higijene ruku jedna do najvažnijih mjera za sprječavanje nastanka i širenja infekcija u zdravstvenim ustanovama. Pravilnim pranjem ruku odstranjuju se patogeni mikroorganizmi koji kontaminiraju ruke u radu. Širenje infekcija sprječava se i pravilnom upotrebom rukavica koje zdravstveni djelatnici moraju nositi pri svom radu. Nošenjem rukavica štite sebe, ali i bolesnike.
Abstract (english)
Hospital infections occur among patients, staff and visitors in a hospital and other establishments. They prolong the treatment and the length of time the patients spend in a hospital which is why the costs of treatment are increased, which also increases the mortality and morbidity. The aim of preventing hospital infections is to stop the input of the source of infections in medical facilities that are causing the illness. The introduction of the source of infection is prevented by organizing programs for stopping hospital infections, proper organization of work structure, proper measures of enforcement of disinfection and sterilization and by proper hand hygiene. The biggest transfer of infection that occurs in medical facilities is transferred by hands. Because of that hand hygiene is so important, as to help prevent creating and spreading infections in medical facilities. By regularly washing hands, the pathogens microorganisms that are contaminating hands while working, are removed. The spread of infections is also prevented by proper use of gloves which health care workers have to wear while working. By wearing gloves, they do not only protect themselves but also the patients.
