Abstract
Starenje predstavlja progresivan, postupan i stalan proces smanjenja strukture i funkcije organa i organskih sustava. Prijelom je prekid kontinuiteta kosti koji je udružen s ozljedom mekog tkiva ekstremiteta i nastaje kao posljedica djelovanja vanjske sile koja je dovoljno jaka da nadjača fiziološku elastičnost kosti. U starijoj dobi najčešći su prijelomi distalnog dijela radijusa, kompresivni prijelomi kralježnice i prijelomi vrata bedrene kosti. Zbog toga što ozljede u starijoj životnoj dobi čine veliki javnozdravstveni problem nužni su preventivni programi koji bi smanjili broj hospitalizacija i smrtnost u starijih osoba. Interdisciplinarni pristup je od velike važnosti, koji uz uobičajene preventivno zdravstvene usluge za starije, obuhvaća i samu životnu okolinu, životne navike starije osobe i kontinuiranu edukaciju.
Abstract (english)
Aging is a progressive, gradual and continuous process of reducing the structure and function of organs and organ systems. The fracture is an interruption of bone continuity which is associated with a soft-tissue injury of the extremities, it occurs as a result of the action of an external force which is strong enough to override the physiological elasticity of the bone. In the elderly, fractures of the distal part of the radius, compressive fractures of the spine, and fractures of the femoral neck are the most common. Because older age injuries are a major public health problem, preventative programs are needed to reduce hospitalizations and mortality in the elderly. An interdisciplinary approach is of great importance which in addition to the usual preventative health care services for the elderly, includes the living environment itself, the life habits of the elderly and continuing education.
