The topic of the paper focuses on a deeper analysis of the Advisory Bodies, in particular the European Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions. The Committees contribute to the governance processes in the European Union and the legitimacy of decision-making. Advisory Bodies are often considered to be a useful source of expertise and information on field conditions or public policy acceptance. The Advisory Bodies bring together representatives of the leading social partners and sectoral civil society organizations in the Member States. Their role in the governance system of the European Union is to adopt mandatory opinions from a range of public policies defined in the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU. Those Bodies have a president, a plenary assembly, a secretariat, working groups and rapporteurs. The president of the Committee is elected for a term of five years. The president chairs the plenary session and together with the two vice presidents he represents the Committee before other institutions outside the European Union. In this paper, additional value of the Advisory Bodies will be emhasized. Unfortunately, few are aware that Advisory Bodies, driven by the need to rise from a lack of influence, can develop unique mechanisms of action and occupy special places in political systems. In this way, these institutions or Advisory Bodies become specialized in particular areas of public policy or in specific issues. In this paper, the potential of the European Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions will be analyzed to make a quality contribution to the European Union's governance system.
