Abstract
Hrvatsko stanovništvo stari, a proces starenja popraćen je raznim fiziološkim promjenama. Velik broj bolesti posljedica je nepravilne prehrane i načina života. Zato se kaže da zdrave prehrambene navike tijekom čitavog života utječu na to kako će osoba stariti. Starijim osobama preporuča se prehrana koja uključuje dovoljan unos kalcija, proteina, vitamina D, vlakana i tekućine. Kako bi se starije osobe što lakše nosile sa poteškoćama koje donosi starost, trebaju biti tjelesno aktivne jer se samim time osjećaju samostalnije. Fizioterapeut ima važnu ulogu u radu sa starijim osobama jer su oni česti korisnici fizioterapije. On radi na prevenciji bolesti te na usporavanju ili olakšavanju promjena koje se događaju u starosti. Osim fizioterapijskih vještina, fizioterapeut mora posjedovati dobre komunikacijske vještine jer je samim time i fizioterapija uspješnija, a korisnici zadovoljniji. Mentalna aktivnost, tjelesna aktivnost, društveni angažman i pravilna prehrana ključne su komponente uspješnog starenja.
Abstract (english)
Croatia has an ageing population and the ageing process is followed by various physiological changes. Poor nutrition and lifestyle are the cause of many diseases. Many, therefore, say that a lifetime of healthy eating choices results in healthy ageing. Recommendation for the eldery is a diet that contains calcium, protein, vitamin D, fibres and liquid. They should be physically active to cope with ageing more successfully. Physical activity will also give them a sense of independence. Physiotherapists have a vital role in working with elderly people, since the elderly are the most frequent users of physiotherapy. Physiotherapists are involved in preventing disease and managing the changes that occur in old age. Besides these skills, physiotherapists need to have good communication skills. That makes the physiotherapy more successful and patients more content. The main components of successful ageing are cognitive stimulation, physical activity, social activity and good nutrition.
