Abstract
Razvoj medicine kroz povijest prati se od najstarijih naroda, pa sve do danas. U početku je medicina bila usko povezana sa religijom te nisu postojali obrazovani liječnici i specijalisti, nego su liječenje provodili svećenici i vračevi. U povijesti medicine mnogo je velikih ličnosti koji su doprinijeli njezinom razvoju, kao što su npr. Hipokrat i Galen. Razvoju medicine pridonijela su i prirodna otkrića, kao što je otkriće RTG zraka i radija, te je zahvaljujući tim otkrićima i razvojem računala medicina postala onakva kakvu je mi danas poznajemo. Razvoj fizioterapije također započinje u doba Hipokrata i Galena, no on je tekao sporo. Tek u 19. stoljeću ubrzava se njezin razvoj i ona postaje važna medicinska djelatnost. Najveće „zasluge“ za razvoj fizioterapije imaju ratovi koji su povećali broj osoba kojima treba pomoć fizioterapeuta.
Abstract (english)
The historical development of medicine is followed by the oldest people, to this day. Intially, medicine was closely related to religion and there were no educated doctors and specialist, but the treatment was perfomed by priests and wardens. In the history of medicine there are many great personalities that contributed to its development, such as Hippocrates and Galen. Natural discoveries, such as X-rays and radius have also contributed to the development of medicine, and thanks to these discoveries aswell as the development of computers, medicine has become as we know it today. The development of physiotherapy also begins at the time of Hippocrates and Galen, but it was running slowly. It wasn't until the 19th century that its development accelerated and it became an important medical activity. The biggest „merits“ for the development of physiotherapy have become wars who increased the number of people who need physiotherapy assistance.
