Abstract
Kofein je jedna od najkonzumiranijih supstanci u svijetu. Upravo zbog toga je našao svoje mjesto i u sportu. Sve do 2008. godine je bio zabranjen od strane World Anti-Doping Agency, no prestankom te zabrane sportaši od tada do danas počinju koristiti kofein u svrhu poboljšanja svojih sposobnosti. Kofein se nalazi u više od 60 biljaka, a najčešće se koristi u sportu kroz napitke kao što su kava, čaj, energetski napitci ili u obliku tableta kao dodatak prehrani. Svrha istraţivanja je bilo utvrĎivanje koliko i kako sportaši konzumiraju kofein za poboljšanje motoričke sposobnosti te kako i koliko su upoznati s utjecajem kofeina na organizam. Istraţivanje je provedeno na 31 sportaša muškog i ţenskog Rukometnog kluba Osijek. Rezultati istraţivanja pokazuju da sportaši uzimaju umjerene količine kofeina konzumirajući najčešće kavu i energetske napitke. Rukometaši češće konzumiraju energetske napitke od rukometašica te su kolektivno pokazali dobro poznavanje pozitivnih i negativnih utjecaja energetskih napitaka na organizam.
Abstract (english)
Caffeine is one of the most consumed substances in the world. That is why it has found it's place in sports. It was banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency until 2008., but with the end of that ban, athletes have been using caffeine ever since to improve their abilities. Caffeine is found in more than 60 plants and is most commonly used in sports through beverages such as coffe, tea, energy drinks or in pill form as a dietary supplement. The purpose of the study was to determine how much and how athletes consume caffeine to improve motoric performance and how much and how they are aware of the effects of caffeine on the body. The research was conducted on 32 athletes of the men's and women's handball club Osijek. The results of the study show that athletes consume moderate amounts of caffeine by consuming coffee and energy drinks. Male players consume energy drinks more than female players and they showed a good knowledge of the positive and negative effects of the energy drinks on the body.
