Abstract
Svako koljeno ima dva meniska, medijalni i lateralni. Oba imaju nekoliko uloga koje su vitalne u održavanju zdravlja koljena te obavljaju važne mehaničke funkcije u koljenu,pomažu u prijenosu i raspodjeli opterećenja prilikom hodanja i stajanja, apsorbiraju šok, služe kao sekundarni stabilizatori koljena, osiguravaju lubrikaciju zgloba, hrane i štite zglobnu hrskavicu, osiguravaju sukladnost zglobnih ploha, povećavaju kontaktnu površinu, te onemogućuju ekstremnu fleksiju i ekstenziju. Ozljede meniska javljaju se kod sportaša, ali i opće populacije. Dvije glavne vrste ruptura su traumatska (akutna) i degenerativna (kronična), a dijeli se još prema dubini rupture,anatomskoj lokaciji i zoni vaskularizacije dok je najčešći mehanizam nastanka ozljede nekontaktnim silama. U slučaju neuspješnog konzervativnog liječenja pristupa se operativnom zahvatu. Programi rehabilitacije moraju biti individualizirani jer svaki sportaš drukčije reagira na ozljedu i na podražaj vježbi koje se koriste u procesu rehabilitacije.
Abstract (english)
Each knee has two menisci, medial and lateral. Both have several roles that are vital in maintaining knee health and perform important mechanical functions in the knee, helping to transfer and distribute loads when walking and standing, absorb shock, serve as secondary knee stabilizers, provide joint lubrication, nourish and protect articular cartilage, provide compliance of the articular surfaces, increase the contact surface, and prevent extreme flexion and extension. Meniscus injuries occur in athletes, but also in the general population. The two main types of ruptures are traumatic (acute) and degenerative (chronic) and are further divided according to the depth of the rupture, anatomical location and vascularization zone, while the most common mechanism of injury is non-contact forces. In case of unsuccessful conservative treatment, surgery is performed. Rehabilitation programs must be individualized because each athlete responds differently to injury and to the stimulus of the exercises used in the rehabilitation process.
